China Academy of Information and Communications Technology: In November, domestic 5G mobile phone shipments reached 20.136 million units, accounting for 68.1%

On December 10, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in November 2020. The report showed that the total shipments of the domestic mobile phone market were 29.584 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 15.1%; 5G mobile phone shipments exceeded 20 million units, and the proportion increased to 68.1%.

1. Overall situation of domestic mobile phone market

In November 2020, the total shipments of the domestic mobile phone market were 29.584 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 15.1%; from January to November, the total shipments of the domestic mobile phone market were 281 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 21.5%.

In November 2020, 30 new mobile phone models were launched in China, a year-on-year decrease of 46.4%. From January to November, a total of 417 new models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 22.5%.

2. Development of 5G mobile phones

In November 2020, the domestic market shipped 20.136 million 5G mobile phones, accounting for 68.1% of the total mobile phone shipments in the same period; 16 new models were launched, accounting for 53.3% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period. From January to November, the domestic market shipped 144 million 5G mobile phones and launched 199 new models, accounting for 51.4% and 47.7% respectively.

3. Composition of domestic and foreign brands in the domestic mobile phone market

In November 2020, the shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones was 22.68 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 27.7%, accounting for 76.7% of the total mobile phone shipments in the same period; 27 new models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 42.6%, accounting for 90.0% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period. From January to November, the cumulative shipment volume of domestic brand mobile phones was 249 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 23.6%, accounting for 88.5% of the total mobile phone shipments in the same period; the cumulative number of new models launched was 375, a year-on-year decrease of 21.5%, accounting for 89.9% of the number of new mobile phone models launched in the same period.

IV. Development of domestic smartphones

In November 2020, smartphone shipments reached 27.71 million units, down 17.0% year-on-year, accounting for 93.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period. From January to November, cumulative smartphone shipments reached 271 million units, down 21.1% year-on-year, accounting for 96.1% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In November 2020, 25 new smartphone models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 26.5%, accounting for 83.3% of the number of new smartphone models launched in the same period. From January to November, a total of 323 new smartphone models were launched, a year-on-year decrease of 18.6%, accounting for 77.5% of the number of new models launched in the same period.
