The government work report also clearly proposed to "strengthen the construction of new infrastructure, develop a new generation of information networks, and expand 5G applications." The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has thoroughly implemented the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, accelerated the development of 5G, and achieved remarkable results.

According to Li Ying, more than 500,000 5G base stations have been built and put into operation nationwide. The number of 5G users continues to grow, and the cumulative number of terminal connections has exceeded 100 million. 5G applications are constantly enriched, covering multiple fields such as industry, medical care, media, and transportation. In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will focus on five tasks.

First, steadily advance network construction . Actively promote basic telecommunications companies to accelerate independent network construction, increase joint construction and sharing, and strive to build a high-quality, economical and efficient 5G network.

Second, vigorously promote application exploration. Promote the transformation of operating enterprises from network construction, business model to business philosophy, meet the needs of development from 2C to 2B, and further enrich and expand application scenarios. Continue to vigorously implement the "5G+Industrial Internet" 512 project and create a benchmark for demonstration applications.

Third, we encourage more policy support. We will further mobilize the enthusiasm of local governments at all levels, continuously improve supporting policies in 5G network construction, security, application promotion, etc., promote the implementation of various support measures, and create a good environment for 5G development.

Fourth, we will carry out in-depth technology research and development . We will continue to promote the research and development of various links in the industrial chain, such as chips and instruments, promote the optimization and upgrading of 5G base station equipment, and carry out millimeter wave technology research and development experiments. At the same time, we will strengthen the research on the development direction and key technologies of 6G.

Fifth, deepen international exchanges and cooperation . Accumulate experience in 5G development, and deepen cooperation with governments and industries of various countries to jointly create an open industrial ecosystem and promote better and faster development of 5G.
