As low as 2.2 yuan/GB, the first 5G package is released

As low as 2.2 yuan/GB, the first 5G package is released

The world's largest commercial 5G tariff package is released!

On March 29, South Korean operator LG U+*** announced its 5G package plan.

LG U+'s 5G packages are divided into three tiers:

***files:

  • 55,000 won (about 325 yuan) per month, including 9GB of data traffic. After exceeding 9GB of traffic, the speed limit is no higher than 1Mbps.
  • Average price: RMB 36/GB

Second gear:

  • 75,000 won (about 443 yuan) per month, including 150GB of data traffic. After exceeding 150GB of traffic, the speed limit is no higher than 5Mbps.
  • Average price: RMB 3/GB

Third gear:

  • 95,000 won (about 561 yuan) per month, including 250GB of data traffic. After exceeding 250GB of traffic, the speed limit is no higher than 7Mbps.
  • Average price: RMB 2.2/GB

LG U+ also stated that the three packages can enjoy a 25% discount during the promotion period, that is, 41,250 won/month, 56,250 won/month and 71,250 won/month respectively.

In addition, according to Korean media, the 5G tariff plan of SK Telecom, another major operator in South Korea, has been approved by the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea, including four levels:

  • The first tier: 55,000 won per month, including 10GB of data traffic.
  • Second tier: 75,000 won per month, including 150GB of data traffic.
  • Tier 3: 95,000 won per month, including 200GB of data traffic.
  • Tier 4: 125,000 won per month, including 300GB of data traffic.

It is reported that SK Telecom submitted its 5G tariff plan to the Ministry of Science and ICT for the first time on February 27, starting from 75,000 won per month for 150GB of data traffic, but was rejected on the grounds that "there are only high-rate and high-data traffic packages, which may limit the choices of some users."

It seems that this time, after adding the highest-tier tariff package, it was finally approved.

But if you are careful, you will find that whether it is LGU+ or SK Telecom, the gap between their first-tier 5G tariff packages and the second, third, and fourth tiers is surprisingly large.

The average price per GB of traffic for the first-tier package is 10 times that of the second-tier package. It feels like it is designed just for “passing the level”!
