Will 5G be expensive? Maybe not that high

Will the data consumption increase when using 5G? The 5G network is about 10 times faster than the 4G network. In fact, it improves the Internet access or download speed. Under the premise of obtaining the same amount of data, it reduces the waiting time of users, but the required data traffic remains unchanged. For example, when downloading a 1GB movie, the 5G rate increase will reduce the download time to one tenth of 4G, but the total data traffic remains unchanged.

Of course, as network bandwidth increases, the total amount of data used by users will also increase simultaneously. Therefore, some experts warn that in the early stages of 5G, we cannot expect the tariff to be reduced, because even if the 5G data tariff is lower than 4G, the total cost may not be reduced due to the increase in data usage.

However, even if the total charges will increase, the concerns of "if you leave your data on overnight, your house will belong to the operator" during the commercial use of 4G will not happen again in the 5G era. First of all, at the national level, reducing fees and speeding up is a general trend. From July 1 this year, the much-watched "roaming fee" for mobile data will also become history. In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology also stated that in terms of mobile data charges, in addition to canceling data roaming fees, the level of mobile data charges per G per month will also be reduced. These two measures combined will reduce charges by more than 30% by the end of the year compared to last year.

In addition to giving the people a "big gift package" on the user side, the country has also introduced support policies at the operator level to reduce their burden and ensure the realization of the goals of reducing fees and increasing speed.

Recently, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Finance issued a notice specifically proposing to "lower the frequency occupation fee standard for 5G public mobile communication systems". From the date of issuance of the 5G public communication system frequency use license, my country will waive the occupation fee for the first three years, and charge relevant fees in proportion from the fourth to the sixth year. Industry insiders estimate that the adjustment of the radio frequency occupation fee standard will save the three major operators a total of tens of billions of yuan in expenses. If the application of 5G millimeter wave bands is taken into account, it will save hundreds of billions of yuan in expenses. From this policy, it can be seen that the country is particularly concerned about my country's 5G construction, and Chinese users are expected to experience 5G services as soon as possible.

5G pilot cities are basically distributed in the first and second tier cities. For urban white-collar workers living here, tariffs may not be the most important consideration.
