South Korea's 5G users will reach tens of millions! It is important to drain the "water"

As the core of the new generation of communication technology and new infrastructure, the development of 5G has attracted much attention and has been unanimously valued by countries around the world. Whether it is major countries and regions such as China, the United States, Europe, and Japan, or other small and medium-sized economies, they have successively invested resources in the development of 5G networks. In April 2019, South Korea took the lead in announcing the commercial use of 5G, becoming the first country in the world to start 5G commercial use, and launched 5G packages for individual consumers.

South Korea's three major operators attach great importance to promoting the popularization of 5G packages and 5G mobile phone applications, and have taken a series of measures to increase the number of 5G users. According to data released by the Ministry of Science and ICT of South Korea, the country's 5G users have reached 8.65 million. In addition, South Korea's three major operators expect that by the end of 2020, the number of 5G users in the country is expected to reach 10 million. It should be noted that South Korea's population is only 52 million.

The sharp increase in the number of 5G users is due to the South Korean government's support for 5G construction and the introduction of a series of policies; secondly, the accelerated construction of 5G base stations in South Korea has continuously expanded the coverage of 5G networks, and the continued increase in the number of 5G mobile phones; thirdly, South Korea's three major operators have spared no effort to increase the number of their respective 5G users, and some "water" is inevitable, such as the "4G mobile phone + 5G package" situation that also exists in China.

Although South Korea has a small land area and a highly concentrated population, the development of 5G has brought huge benefits and saved related construction costs. However, at present, there is still room for improvement and upgrading of 5G signal coverage and stability, including the price of 5G packages. It is reported that some 5G users in South Korea chose to give up 5G after "trying it out", and the number of people who switched to 4G exceeded 560,000.

Therefore, it is gratifying that the number of 5G users is expected to reach 10 million by the end of the year, but more attention should be paid to the healthy and sustainable development of the 5G industry. Only by draining away the "water", truly devoting ourselves to improving the experience of 5G users, exploring more diversified applications, and constantly opening up new commercial scenarios, can the Korean 5G industry achieve a real breakthrough. This is also worth noting for the development of 5G in my country.
