Huawei's Rotating CEO Eric Xu speaks at the 4th World Internet Conference

Dear leaders, ladies and gentlemen, good afternoon!

First of all, I would like to thank the organizing committee for awarding Huawei the "3GPP 5G Pre-commercial System" Science and Technology Achievement Award. Thank you all for your support for Huawei!

Huawei started investing in 5G technology research in 2009. Over the past eight years, Huawei has worked closely with partners from all regions, governments, regulatory agencies, research organizations, academia, industry, and various industries around the world to jointly define needs, research technologies, and develop standards, which led to the launch of Huawei's 5G pre-commercial system today. Therefore, this award is not only given to Huawei, but also a recognition of all the above partners. On their behalf, I would like to thank the organizing committee again.

I am honored to attend the Fourth Internet Conference today. I think we should especially thank China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom and more than 600 telecom operators around the world. It is their unremitting efforts over the past decades that have built the Internet and mobile Internet that connect and cover the world. It is because of their decades of unremitting efforts that we have today's rich Internet applications such as search, e-commerce, social networking, and content, and we have household-known Internet-based application companies. Huawei is fortunate to provide about one-third of the network equipment for global telecom operators, supporting them to build today's powerful Internet and mobile Internet. At the same time, it provides smartphones to consumers around the world, enabling more and more people to benefit from mobile Internet.

Huawei is committed to bringing the digital world to everyone, every home, and every organization, and building a fully connected, intelligent world. Investing in 5G is one of our concrete practices.

What exactly 5G can bring to our society is probably of great concern to everyone. First of all, 5G can greatly enhance consumers' mobile Internet experience. For example, with 5G technology, it takes less than 2 seconds to download a 6GB high-definition movie. Secondly, 5G can support the connection of 100 billion objects and provide industrial-grade reliability and real-time performance. These capabilities make 5G a key foundation for the smooth implementation of industrial strategies such as Industry 4.0 and Made in China 2025. We expect that 5G will become a universal wireless technology. In the future society, 5G will be everywhere, and all places in human society that require wireless connections will be able to be achieved through 5G.

Huawei will launch a full set of 5G network equipment solutions for large-scale commercial use in 2018, support global operators in deploying 5G networks, take the mobile Internet to a new level, usher in the era of the Internet of Everything, and undertake the historical mission of digitalization of all industries. Huawei will also launch 5G-enabled Kirin chips in 2019, and simultaneously launch 5G-enabled smartphones, so that consumers can enjoy the best experience of 5G networks as soon as possible.

Thanks again to the organizing committee! Thank you everyone!
