Huawei's Eric Xu: Working with operators to create an agile and user-friendly B2B private line service

[Hangzhou, China, October 18, 2017] Today, the 4th Global Ultra Broadband Forum (UBBF) opened at the Hangzhou International Expo Center. As the highest-level industry event in the global ultra-broadband field, this forum brought together more than 800 industry elites from operators, vertical industry leaders, regulatory agencies, standards and industry organizations, partners, etc., focusing on the theme of "Grow with All-Cloud Network" to discuss how to seize the strategic opportunities of the industry's digital transformation and achieve new business growth.

With the acceleration of digital transformation in the industry, it has become an inevitable trend for enterprises to purchase cloud services instead of IT equipment. The essence of enterprises using cloud services is to extend the enterprise network to a carrier's wide area network. Bandwidth will increase by ten times, and low latency is the basic requirement of cloud services, so fiber to the enterprise (FTTE) will become inevitable. As enterprises continue to use cloud services, dedicated line services will become a new growth point for operators in the future.

Huawei's Rotating CEO Eric Xu speaks at UBBF 2017

Huawei's rotating CEO Eric Xu said, "Huawei will work with operators to build the competitiveness and competitive advantages of B2B private lines, seize the growth opportunities of private line business brought by cloud services, and face the challenges head-on."

Combined with Huawei's survey data on government and enterprise customers, government and enterprise customers' demands for operators' dedicated line services are concentrated in three aspects: services can be purchased flexibly on demand at competitive prices; services can be activated quickly and conveniently, and bandwidth can be selected on demand; SLAs are visible, traceable, and guaranteed.

In the future, operators need to reposition their B2B private line services and make improvements in the formulation of the entire business strategy, product portfolio management, customer experience management, and network planning and construction. Huawei will help operators build an agile private line service with a good experience. Specifically, it includes the following aspects.

1. To meet the demand for cloud services, we created a dedicated cloud line solution.

2. Support operators to provide government and enterprise customers with a package of "dedicated line + cloud service" solutions through self-operation, joint operation or resale of cloud services, and give full play to the advantages of operator cloud-network collaboration.

3. Realize the agile upgrade of traditional private line services. Through network cloudification, private lines can be made agile and on-demand, effectively matching enterprises' new demands for traditional private lines and building competitive advantages.

4. Extend the dedicated line service to the enterprise's internal network, provide the enterprise with LAN, Wi-Fi network coverage and management services, and extend the connotation of the dedicated line.

5. Create a full-process service experience for corporate customers from discovery to purchase to use, and build competitiveness in B2B private line business.

Xu Zhijun said: "Cloud services have brought growth opportunities to operators' traditional private line businesses, but also brought challenges, especially cross-border competition from cloud service providers. In this context, Huawei will work with operators to use advanced technologies and solutions to jointly build an agile B2B private line business with a good experience to meet new challenges and seize new opportunities."
