Karamay: Huawei's first cloud strategic cooperation city in the world

Karamay is a desert city that was born and prospered because of oil. It is home to 17 large central enterprises under PetroChina and Sinopec, 94 oil companies, and well-known international and domestic information technology companies such as Huawei, China Mobile, and Neusoft.

In 2010, Karamay proposed a development strategy to build a "World Oil City". The information industry is regarded by Karamay as the focus of its current transformation and development. It has advantages in resources, climate, geology, security and other aspects in cloud computing and data center construction. The Karamay Cloud Computing Industrial Park broke ground on May 19, 2013.

In the three years since its establishment, Karamay Cloud Computing Industrial Park has attracted Huawei Cloud Service Data Center, Autonomous Region Important Information System Offsite Disaster Backup Center, PetroChina Xinjiang Regional Data Center, Xinjiang Mobile Data Center, Tiandi Map Karamay Data Center and Northern Disaster Backup Center, China Aerospace Group Western Satellite Communication Network Base, Xinjiang Yizanpu Technology Co., Ltd. "Asia-Europe Cross-border E-commerce Platform", Karamay ZTE Petroleum Technology Co., Ltd., Xinjiang Tongfang Information System Engineering Co., Ltd., Karamay Tiandi Map Co., Ltd., Karamay SuperMap Software Technology Co., Ltd. and other well-known enterprises (projects) to settle down, which has effectively promoted and driven the development of the city's information industry. In 2014, Karamay Cloud Computing Industrial Park was approved to be included in the national major projects.

At present, Karamay has initially built three cloud platforms, namely e-government cloud, public service cloud and industrial cloud, which have played a huge role in strengthening the government, benefiting the people and promoting business, and also helped Karamay build a digital city and smart city in the cloud.

Karamay becomes Huawei's first global cloud strategy partner city

"Huawei has a set of standards, security systems and operation and maintenance systems." At the enterprise cloud strategy and business launch conference held by Huawei on July 30, Zhang Hongyan, deputy secretary of the Karamay Municipal Party Committee and mayor, said: "We particularly admire Huawei's foresight and thank Huawei for choosing Karamay as the world's first cloud strategy cooperation city. Huawei is also the first company to land in the Karamay Cloud Computing Industrial Park. Huawei Karamay Cloud Computing Service Center will provide services to the whole country and even the world."

In Zhang Hongyan's view, as a leading domestic ICT manufacturer, Huawei Enterprise Cloud not only has a full set of independent intellectual property rights, but also has strong industrial chain integration capabilities. More importantly, Huawei has always been customer-centric and has won the long-term trust of customers.

It is understood that before the end of this year, Huawei Cloud Service Data Center, the autonomous region's important information system off-site disaster backup center, China Petroleum Xinjiang Regional Data Center, Xinjiang Mobile Data Center, Tiandi Map Karamay Data Center and Northern Disaster Recovery Center will all be put into operation. Karamay will therefore have the scale and capacity of 20,000 racks, forming a cloud computing base of initial scale.

In the future, Karamay will also carry out deeper and closer cooperation with Huawei in the construction of the Central Asian Trade Cloud Center, the National Important Industry Data Backup Center, the Xinjiang Centralized Service Center, and the Global Big Data Processing Center to support the construction of centers such as oil and gas technical services, refining and chemical industry, petroleum and petrochemical commodity trading, and cross-border e-commerce; at the same time, it will also provide information products and services to the national and Eurasian markets, and strive to build Karamay into an information service center in the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt.

Huawei releases enterprise cloud strategy

On the same day, Huawei released enterprise cloud service solutions for multiple vertical industries such as finance, media, cities and public services, parks, and software development, and is committed to providing customers with enterprise-level ICT infrastructure services. Among them:

——Financial Cloud focuses on using cloud computing and big data technologies to promote the development of business in the entire financial field in order to cope with the impact of the entire financial Internet, operating costs, and multi-dimensional innovation challenges.

——Media Cloud is a storage and management tool for comprehensive media reform with TV stations as the core, optimizing field transmission and production to cope with the huge impact of new media such as WeChat and Weibo on the traditional media industry.

——The park cloud provides one-stop services for park operators, allowing park enterprises to manage the platform independently and face service homogeneity and increasingly fierce market competition.

Huawei's Vice Chairman and Rotating CEO Eric Xu believes that Huawei Enterprise Cloud is a Huawei-specific cloud that is "different from other vendors". Its characteristics stem from Huawei's many years of customer applications and partner cooperation, and from the fact that Huawei is already a mature O2O company. When talking about data that others regard as precious, Huawei's Rotating CEO Eric Xu bluntly stated that Huawei is not a data company and will never gain value from data. This undoubtedly gives users more confidence in the security of their data. The launch of Huawei Enterprise Cloud will help it achieve its 20 billion yuan marketing target in 2020.

At present, Huawei has end-to-end enterprise-level IT infrastructure products and solutions, and strives to provide cloud services that better meet the needs of enterprise customers through long-term technology accumulation to ensure the smooth evolution of their business. "Huawei Enterprise Cloud adheres to the 'integrated' business model, open cooperation, and works with partners to provide complete vertical industry solutions for enterprise customers." said Yang Ruikai, President of Huawei Enterprise Cloud Service Business.

Over the past three years, Huawei Enterprise Cloud has made significant progress in multiple industry markets, providing multiple solutions such as financial cloud, city cloud, media cloud, campus cloud, and software development cloud, and working with customers to carry out cloud transformation practices.
