BuyVM Las Vegas VPS simple test

BuyVM has been shared many times in the blog. It was established relatively early and supports domestic and foreign payment methods such as Alipay and PayPal. However, I have never posted test information. I happened to have a $3.5 monthly payment, so I ran the test command and posted it for your reference. The minimum configuration of the merchant is a $2/month 512M package with 4 data centers. The one I have is 1GB of internal deposit, AMD Ryzen CPU, NVMe hard drive, 1Gbps port (unlimited monthly traffic), and Las Vegas data center.

Computer room and configuration

The VPS host is based on the KVM architecture, configured with an AMD Ryzen 9 3900X single-core Fair Share CPU, 1GB of memory, a 20GB hard drive, a 1Gbps shared port, the operating system is CentOS7.9 64bit, the data center is the Las Vegas computer room, and the VPS management panel is Stallion developed by the merchant itself.

Basic Tests

IO and bandwidth testing

All tests were performed using one-click package commands, and IO and bandwidth were tested repeatedly using different commands.

The IO performance of the machine has been tested many times and is quite good. The following command tests the bandwidth of more domestic nodes.

Outbound Routing

The outbound route test of the host IP is carried out from the three domestic networks (China Telecom/China Mobile/China Unicom) through the online web page.

The domestic telecom broadband access in Las Vegas is slightly better. The merchants do not focus on the line advantages, but mainly on the hardware performance and ports, as well as the ability to purchase storage blocks. A large hard drive VPS is quite cheap and convenient.

Ping Test

A total of 322 nodes in mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Asia were used to conduct latency tests through IPIP.NET.

In general, the Las Vegas line is average, and the average latency is similar to other areas on the west coast of the United States. However, the merchant's machines have strong performance, including IO and bandwidth. In addition, the machines do not limit monthly traffic. It may be better if an accelerator such as BBR is installed. The merchant also supports the installation of Windows operating system, and supports the purchase of DDoS protection IP and additional disks (starting from 256GB), with obvious price advantages.
