The most powerful remote access tool, no objection

ZeroTier and TailScale are foreign brand solutions. Because of their good open source software support and high recognition, they are mostly used for point-to-point network connections and the creation and management of remote virtual LANs.

The following are three mainstream remote access tools: Tailscale, ZeroTier and Node Xiaobao. Their characteristics are compared and analyzed for your reference [the summary table is at the end].

Tailscale

(1) Introduction

Tailscale is a network security connection tool built on the WireGuard protocol, designed to simplify secure connections across devices.

(2) Deployment and support

The official website/login is not adapted to the domestic environment. The quick login method only supports Google and GitHub. The official server is located abroad, resulting in unstable domestic access speed, and no Chinese after-sales service or technical support is provided.

(3) Stability and speed

The networking servers are all deployed abroad, and there are no service nodes optimized for domestic lines. Direct connection will only start when the network conditions of both parties allow it. In some network environments, since it is impossible to directly connect two devices, the transmission speed is very slow, and it may even be unusable during certain time periods.

ZeroTier

(1) Introduction

ZeroTier is an open source virtual local area network (VLAN) tool designed to allow devices to connect to each other as if they were on the same local area network.

(2) Deployment and support

(3) Stability and speed

There will be no problems with accessing/registering and downloading the official website. When network conditions permit, P2P direct connection networking is automatically realized, and data transmission does not go through the transit server, which can easily fill the bandwidth, provide a more stable connection and faster data transmission experience, and reduce delays and packet loss.

The following is a horizontal comparison of the domestically developed NodeX, and the foreign TailScale and ZeroTier solutions. In short, although all three solutions support remote access by installing and logging into the software client without a public IP and without adjusting the router/network settings, NodeX has the most advantages overall.
