​Recently, data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology showed that the scale of my country's industrial Internet industry has exceeded the trillion yuan mark. The industrial Internet is widely used in various links such as R&D design, production and manufacturing, and operation management, and its service scope has expanded from economic construction to safety production, emergency support, public governance and other fields.

Industry coverage, demonstration applications accelerated

The Industrial Internet has built a new manufacturing and service system covering the entire industrial chain and the entire value chain by fully connecting people, machines, objects, and systems. It has provided a way to realize the digitalization, networking, and intelligent development of industry and even industries, and is an important cornerstone of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

my country attaches great importance to the development of the industrial Internet, and the demonstration and application of the industrial Internet has been accelerated. In the first quarter, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released 123 industrial Internet pilot demonstration projects and 4 industrial demonstration bases. 75 projects including the international root node of the industrial Internet identification resolution system and the National Industrial Internet Big Data Center were completed and put into operation, and the total number of "5G+Industrial Internet" projects under construction nationwide reached 2,400.

Upgrading and strengthening technological innovation

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently released the "2022 Work Plan of the Industrial Internet Special Working Group", which focuses on upgrading the industrial Internet and proposes key tasks such as consolidating infrastructure, deepening integrated applications, strengthening technological innovation, and cultivating an industrial ecosystem.

The release of this policy will enable key technologies such as 5G networks, identity resolution, digital twins, and security protection to be integrated and applied with the industrial Internet on a larger scale, deeper level, and wider range. Focusing on the fields of raw materials, equipment manufacturing, consumer goods, green dual carbon, and safe production, the technical functions of the industrial Internet platform in energy conservation and consumption reduction, equipment operation and maintenance, and quality and efficiency improvement will become more mature, and are expected to create more commercial value for the manufacturing industry. In addition, this policy will promote the development of industrial agglomeration. The industrial Internet will accelerate the sinking of bases, parks, and industrial clusters with concentrated resources, active innovation, and good information technology foundations. Carriers such as "platform + park" will become an important engine for cultivating new momentum for regional economic development.

Improve quality and efficiency, and significantly reduce enterprise costs

The Industrial Internet is a powerful tool for improving quality and efficiency in today's manufacturing industry. The interconnection of industrial equipment can effectively improve the efficiency of the manufacturing industry. At the same time, information technology can be used to connect various nodes in the internal production process of enterprises to achieve comprehensive visualization of enterprise production, so that the production and operation data of enterprises can be presented in a one-window manner, which can greatly reduce the operating costs of enterprises such as R&D, design, materials, and manpower. The use of technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing can control the various links of industrial enterprises such as process, manufacturing, and logistics, accurately predict demand, and thus achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction.

In February 2022, the CNC rate of key processes of industrial enterprises above designated size in my country has reached 55.3%, and the penetration rate of digital R&D tools has reached 74.7%. New digital formats and models are also constantly developing and innovating, and the proportion of enterprises engaged in networked collaboration and service-oriented manufacturing has reached 38.8% and 29.6% respectively. The role of enterprises in using networking and digitalization to improve quality, efficiency and benefits is very obvious, and the competitiveness of the industry has been substantially improved.

Now is the development opportunity period of the industrial Internet. New formats, new models and new products are in a critical period of development. The government should introduce relevant policies to safeguard the development of the industrial Internet. Enterprises should seize the opportunity, realize the importance of data in industrial transformation, find data solutions that suit them, and expand new space for digital development. ​
