Picocom launches 5G chip designed for small base stations

On December 1, Picotech, a professional company specializing in 5G small base station baseband chips and physical layer software, announced the launch of its PC802 chip. As a highly flexible, low-power baseband system-on-chip (SoC), PC802 is designed to enable innovation in the new generation of 5G NR open small base station equipment, making the deployment of 5G and 4G networks more flexible while significantly reducing the capital expenditure and operating costs of these networks.

Nokia Bell completes 5G millimeter wave testing

On December 5, under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, Nokia Bell successfully completed the 5G enhanced technology R&D test of 5G millimeter wave independent networking (SA) mode high and low frequency dual connection (NR-DC) and verified the millimeter wave 4x200MHz downlink carrier aggregation capability. It is understood that Nokia Bell's commercial-grade millimeter wave base station products can support a maximum bandwidth of 800MHz.

Spreadtrum Tanggula V516 passed key technology tests

On December 5, under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, UNISOC's first 5G R16-supporting platform Tanggula V516 successfully completed the "5G Enhanced Technology R&D Test Low Latency High Reliability (uRLLC) Key Technology Test". URLLC is one of the three major application scenarios of 5G. It has been enhanced in the 3GPP 5G R16 version and can be widely used in industrial control, factory automation, smart grid, equipment, Internet of Vehicles communications, remote surgery, AR/VR and other scenarios. It is a key technology to support the intelligent development of vertical industries.

Huawei's Dongguan factory achieves "5G indoor positioning"

On December 6, the first 5G indoor positioning trial commercial project in China was successfully launched at Huawei's Tuanbowa factory. It is reported that Huawei Tuanbowa 5G indoor positioning is a 4.9GHz 5G network deployment jointly developed by China Mobile Guangdong Company and Huawei, with a fusion positioning platform provided by China Mobile Shanghai Industry Research Institute. It is the first trial commercial project to achieve precise indoor positioning.

China Unicom 5G Message Ecological Alliance is officially established

On December 7, China Unicom's 5G Message Ecological Alliance was formally established, and the China Unicom 5G Message Intelligent Letter Sailing Plan was released, and the 5G Message Winter Olympics application was launched. It is reported that China Unicom has launched the 5G message trial commercialization in early November this year, forming a 5G message product system for the public and government and enterprises; cooperated with more than 100 industry customers and built more than 300 demonstration applications; and carried out in-depth cooperation with mainstream terminal manufacturers such as Huami, OV, ZTE, and Samsung.

Unisoc releases 5G module multi-slicing solution

On December 7, Unisoc reported that recently, Unisoc and China Unicom Research Institute jointly developed the world's first 5G module multi-slice solution. It is reported that this solution integrates the URSP data parsing, PDU session establishment, TD and specific slice mapping, and policy routing configuration, which were originally required on the terminal side, into the module, greatly reducing the development and investment on the terminal side.

Huawei announces seven major directions for 5.5G

On December 6, at the IMT-2020 (5G) Conference, Dr. Song Xiaodi, Chief Marketing Officer of Huawei's Carrier BG, delivered a keynote speech entitled "Technological Innovation, Building China's Path to Continued Leadership in 5G". Regarding 5.5G network enhancement, Song Xiaodi shared Huawei's seven directions for 5.5G technology evolution. MIIT strengthens radio frequency sharing management of 5G public mobile communication systems

In order to accelerate the construction of new 5G network infrastructure, encourage domestic basic telecommunications operators to carry out 5G co-construction and sharing, and improve the efficiency and comprehensive benefits of public mobile communication frequency use, in accordance with the "Radio Management Regulations of the People's Republic of China" and "Radio Frequency Use License Management Measures" and other regulations, on December 8, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice on strengthening the management of radio frequency sharing of 5G public mobile communication systems.

5G chip company Chuangxin Huilian completes C round of financing of hundreds of millions of yuan

On December 8, 5G communication baseband chip manufacturer "Chuangxin Huilian" completed a C round of financing worth hundreds of millions of yuan, led by Jinpu Capital, followed by Hongzhuo Capital and Guozhong Capital, and many old shareholders continued to support. The funds from this round of financing will mainly be used for mass production and new product research and development. This is also the second round of financing for Chuangxin Huilian this year. Chuangxin Huilian was established in 2019 and focuses on the research and development, design and application of integrated circuits in the field of mobile communications.

Four departments promote green and high-quality development of new infrastructure such as data centers and 5G

On December 9, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the National Energy Administration jointly studied and formulated the "Implementation Plan for Implementing the Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality Goals to Promote the Green and High-quality Development of New Infrastructures such as Data Centers and 5G". The "Plan" emphasizes the need to orderly promote the green and high-quality development of new infrastructure represented by data centers and 5G, give play to their role of "one industry leading a hundred industries", and help achieve the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality.

In November, 5G mobile phones accounted for more than 80% of domestic mobile phone shipments

On December 13, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology released an analysis report on the operation of the domestic mobile phone market in November 2021. The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology recently released the "White Paper on China's 5G Development and Economic and Social Impact". ZTE completes all 5G millimeter wave tests

On December 21, according to the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, under its guidance, ZTE recently completed the full function and field performance test project of 5G millimeter wave base stations, and successfully completed the system and third-party terminal docking test. On-site measurements show that under high-low frequency dual connection (NR-DC), the single-user downlink peak rate exceeds 8.3Gbps, and the multi-user cell downlink peak rate exceeds 14.3Gbps.
