Huawei fully supports Chinese operators in building China's 5G

This morning, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially issued 5G commercial licenses, marking China's official entry into the 5G era. Huawei will fully support Chinese operators in building China's 5G with its end-to-end leading 5G capabilities. I believe that in the near future, China's 5G will lead the world.

Huawei has been engaged in 5G research since 2009 and has invested a total of US$2 billion in 5G technology and product research and development. It currently has comprehensive leading 5G capabilities from chips, products to system networking. It is also the only communications company in the world that can provide end-to-end 5G commercial solutions.

To date, Huawei has submitted more than 18,000 5G standard proposals to 3GPP, ranking first in the world in the number of standard proposals and approvals. It has declared 2,570 families of 5G basic patents to ESTI, continuing to rank first in the industry. Its leading key technologies such as polarization codes, uplink and downlink decoupling, massive antennas and new network architectures have become important components of 5G international standards.

At the same time, Huawei has achieved large-scale commercial use of a full range of industry-leading self-developed chips, including the world's first 5G base station chipset Tiangang, 5G terminal baseband chip Balong, and terminal processor chip Kirin 980.

Huawei is also at the forefront of the global 5G commercialization pace. As early as February 2018, during the Mobile World Congress, Huawei completed the world's first 5G call and launched the world's first 5G terminal. Currently, Huawei has obtained 46 5G commercial contracts in 30 countries around the world, and the shipment volume of 5G base stations has exceeded 100,000, ranking first in the world.

Huawei is fully prepared to welcome the commercial use of 5G in China.

In the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's IMT-2020 (5G) pre-commercial system networking verification, Huawei was the first to complete all test items for 5G independent networking (SA) and non-independent networking (NSA), covering all mainstream frequency bands for 5G commercial use. The single-user downlink test peak exceeded 1.8Gbps, and the Sub 6GHz single-cell downlink peak exceeded 14.5Gbps. The one-way user plane delay under eMBB services was as low as 2ms, constantly breaking industry records.

At the same time, technologies proposed by Huawei, such as single wireless access network, 4G/5G co-site and coverage, and intelligent power supply, will effectively reduce the construction and operation costs of 5G.

Since April last year, Huawei has carried out large-scale 5G commercial trials with China's three major operators in more than 40 cities in China, including actual tests in urban areas, indoors, on highways, subways and other scenarios, all of which have reached commercial standards.

Chinese operators currently rank among the top in the world in terms of user scale, network capabilities, and overall revenue. Huawei will always uphold the core value of "customer-centricity", continue to increase investment in basic research and product technology innovation, and do its best to fully support Chinese operators in building China's 5G.

The history of China's communications development is a magnificent journey of exploration.

Over the past four decades, my country's communications industry has gone through a process of 1G blank, 2G follow-up, 3G breakthrough, and 4G synchronization exploration, and the progress and achievements have not come easily.

Now, facing the critical historical opportunity of "5G entrepreneurship", Huawei will continue to support Chinese operators and work closely with industry partners from all walks of life to contribute to 5G industry innovation and build a new engine for the 5G digital economy.

Salute to the Chinese communications people who dare to explore and forge ahead!
