As one of the earliest attempts at 5G commercial use, 5G messaging has attracted much attention. At present, my country's 5G messaging application pilots have widely covered many industries such as government affairs, finance, logistics, medical care, education, industry, entertainment, and agriculture. The standard system has been basically completed, infrastructure construction is in full swing, and terminal technology is fully prepared. It is constantly moving from the incubation period to the development period at a high speed.
In April 2019, China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom jointly held an online press conference to release the "5G Message White Paper", marking the debut of the "5G Message" heavyweight commercial scenario. The white paper shows that 5G message applications mainly cover two types of scenarios, one is message interaction between individuals, and the other is message interaction between individuals and industry users. The emergence of 5G messages is crucial for both personal 5G applications and industry 5G commercial use, as well as the transformation and upgrading of various fields. Subsequently, a large number of mobile phone manufacturers expressed their support for 5G messaging and provided support for its popularization and commercialization. Among them, Huawei entered the pilot area in March 2020 to start joint debugging and testing, and officially launched 5G messaging for commercial use in June; at the same time, ZTE also made the first call for 5G messaging in April of that year and officially supported 5G messaging for commercial use in June; in addition, Samsung's full range of products supports RCS services and fully supports 5G messaging in 2020. More than a dozen companies have jointly helped promote the implementation of 5G messaging. In August 2021, the 5G Message Working Group recently established a 5G Message Joint Laboratory with seven units including the China Communications Enterprise Association, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, China Telecom Group, China Mobile Communications Group, China Unicom Group, ZTE, and Huawei to carry out 5G message-related technical verification work, once again creating a good ecosystem for the commercial use of 5G messages. The industry predicts that with the continuous acceleration of ecological construction, the full commercial use of 5G messages will be just around the corner and the prospects are promising. According to data released by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, my country has shipped a total of 163 million 5G mobile phones in 2020, with a total of 218 new models on the market. Judging from these data, the number of domestic 5G mobile phone users has reached hundreds of millions. Since 2021, the further acceleration of 5G construction and the continuous acceleration of 5G development have continued to drive the continued growth of 5G users. Against this background, 5G messaging services are expected to usher in more extensive applications. However, before that, issues such as 5G messaging charges cannot be ignored. |
