The three major telecom operators are accelerating the construction of 5G networks and data centers

Seizing the opportunity of the country's "new infrastructure" and closely following the goal of "building Yunnan into the first city of digital economy", China Mobile Communications Group Yunnan Co., Ltd. Yuxi Branch implemented a three-year action plan for 5G network construction, and China Telecom Co., Ltd. Yuxi Branch and China Unicom Yuxi Branch worked together to deploy 5G networks. At the same time, the three major basic telecommunications operators accelerated the construction of data centers, promoted the extension of basic communication guarantees to big data integration application services, and empowered Yuxi's digital economy.

Accelerate the deployment of 5G networks

Wu Jin, director of the Engineering Construction Center of China Mobile Yuxi Branch, introduced that as of now, China Mobile Yuxi Branch has built more than 4,600 4G base stations in the city, achieving full coverage of all central urban areas and administrative villages, and a coverage rate of 95% for natural villages. On this basis, based on universal telecommunications services and blind spot expansion, it will continue to promote the construction of more than 600 4G base stations to meet the growing traffic needs of users.

While improving and upgrading the 4G network, China Mobile Yuxi Branch launched a three-year action plan for 5G network construction, planning to build nearly 4,000 5G base stations. This year, it is planned to complete the construction of 1,200 5G base stations to achieve network coverage of central urban areas, characteristic towns, and 4A-level scenic spots. Next year, China Mobile Yuxi Branch will focus on improving the thickness and depth of network coverage in central urban areas, achieving full coverage of townships and developed administrative villages, and accelerating the layout of 5G networks. By 2022, the 5G network will be extended to administrative villages to achieve full coverage of 5G networks in the entire city.

Lin Wenzhong, office director of China Telecom Yuxi Branch, introduced that in 2020, China Telecom Yuxi Branch fully deployed "three gigabit" products. At present, 5G has covered the urban area of ​​Hongta District and major areas of counties (cities and districts), and built multiple gigabit fiber optic network communities to achieve gigabit fiber optic network coverage in major areas above the county level in the city. Combining China Telecom's unique "5G+Cloud+Network" advantages, it will be combined with cloud computing, the Internet of Things, etc., to achieve cross-border integration with vertical industries, create new formats in the fields of electricity, logistics, transportation, media, agriculture, education, medical care, smart cities, etc., and open up huge value growth space for various industries.

In the next few years, China Telecom Yuxi Branch will build a new generation of all-optical and all-cloud networks. The new generation of information infrastructure with 5G as the core will surely inject "new momentum" into Yuxi's economic development in the new era, create "new opportunities" for social development, and provide "new experiences" for digital life, fully helping Yuxi build "Yunnan's No. 1 Digital Economy City".

The relevant person in charge of China Unicom Yuxi Branch introduced that Unicom is working with Telecom to accelerate the construction of 5G network. This year, it is planned to complete the construction of 200 5G base stations. So far, 191 have been built, covering the urban area of ​​Hongta District and major application scenarios.

Accelerate the construction of data centers

While accelerating the layout of 5G networks, the three major basic telecommunications operators are also speeding up the construction of data centers to help Yuxi build a "central Yunnan data warehouse" and lay a solid foundation for the development of the digital economy.

It is reported that China Unicom Yuxi Branch is committed to building "one network" to create a dual-gigabit network for basic communications; committed to building "one center" to build the Yunnan Unicom Data Center to provide support for leading Internet companies such as Alibaba and Tencent to provide on-site services and enhance user application perception; committed to building "one cloud" to provide support for the city's industrial Internet construction, intelligent manufacturing applications and smart city construction.

At the same time, China Telecom Yuxi Branch is actively promoting the construction of Tianyi Cloud Data Center. The first phase plans to deploy one overall standard module and more than 100 servers, and the later stage plans to deploy 500 cabinets and 6,000 servers.

China Mobile Yuxi Branch is accelerating the construction of Yunnan Mobile's second data center and core network disaster recovery center, and has realized intelligent inspections in Hongta Group and 5G commercial use such as power grid monitoring in the State Grid Corporation of China.

As the coverage of the low-latency, high-bandwidth, and large-connection 5G communication network continues to expand, it will provide strong support for the digitalization of Yuxi government, the intelligence of cities, smart governance, as well as the digital industrialization and industrial digitization.
