Some highlights of VIAVI Lab To Field™ include:

VIAVI wireless and optical network laboratory validation system promotes the development of 5G network in the Chinese market

VIAVI field instruments support RAN installation and activation of first U.S. commercial 5G network

VIAVI supported a Tier 1 U.S. service provider in its deployment of 5G New Radio (5G-NR) on dual-mode massive MIMO radios.

“With 55 commercial 5G networks expected to be online by the end of 2019, 2019 is likely to be the year 5G becomes a reality,” said Oleg Khaykin, president and CTO of VIAVI. “As we provide critical network validation, verification and visibility solutions to leading equipment manufacturers and service providers, we see clear industry enthusiasm for accelerating 5G services to market.”

VIAVI Lab To Field™

Lab To Field™ can fully test the entire 5G life cycle. From base station enclosure testing and IoT simulation in the laboratory to field and subsequent verification, Lab To Field™ can enable 5G networks to achieve strong performance and service assurance. At this year's Mobile World Congress, VIAVI will exhibit a series of leading network testing and assurance solutions, including:

TM500 Network Tester – This tester has become the de facto standard for lab validation and is used by end users for testing across multiple cells and different radio access technologies. Most base station manufacturers around the world use VIAVI’s TM500 Network Tester.

TeraVM 5G Core Simulator – The first 3GPP-compliant mobile core simulator solution that enables complete end-to-end 5G base station testing and validation, simplifying the gNodeB (gNB) base station development lifecycle and enabling more flexible, 3GPP-compliant networks.

CellAdvisor 5G Base Station Analyzer – the next generation of field instrumentation for mobile service providers worldwide and a true 5G base station analyzer that supports large-scale deployments

NITRO Mobile – Analytics and assurance based on a real-time intelligence platform that captures, locates and analyzes all mobile events in RF, RAN, xHaul and core networks.

VIAVI Announces Joining Multiple Industry Organizations

To further strengthen VIAVI’s ability to help customers navigate the complexities of 5G networks and build and foster the ecosystem that is critical to the scalability of the technology, VIAVI announced that it has joined several key organizations in the industry, including:

Open vRAN: An industry consortium formed by many well-known industry players to accelerate the feasibility, adoption and interoperability of open virtualized radio access network solutions. VIAVI TeraVM enables elastic test beds for reliable and repeatable software-defined testing.

NetSecOPEN: An industry organization focused on establishing open and transparent network security performance testing standards, which is critical for 5G and IoT network topologies surrounded by a huge number and variety of network and user devices. TeraVM provides fully virtualized application and security validation solutions to test and protect devices, networks and their services, and will support the NetSecOPEN test suite.

“With the advent of 5G, network performance will become paramount beyond basic characteristics such as coverage, speed and latency,” said Ian Langley, General Manager of Wireless at VIAVI. “Service providers are actively adopting automation, machine learning and virtualization to optimize and protect the networks that serve tens of billions of connected endpoints. To enable service providers to easily deploy and enable complex new 5G network architectures, VIAVI is collaborating in the areas of virtualization and security, building on its industry-leading 5G test and assurance portfolio.”

At this year’s Mobile World Congress, VIAVI will be showcasing the VIAVI Lab To Field™ 5G test portfolio in Hall 6, Booth #6G40. You are also welcome to contact VIAVI and we will arrange a meeting with VIAVI experts during Mobile World Congress to learn more.
