Attention to those whose phone numbers begin with 13, 15, 18, etc.! There may be a big problem with your data plan!

Users whose mobile phone numbers begin with 13, 15, 18... please note, have you ever tried to save trouble by purchasing an unlimited data package? Then you may have fallen into the "trap" of the operator.

The three major operators' "unlimited" packages have been renamed, but the speed limit remains

Recently, the unlimited data package, once known as the "king of scams" among various packages, has finally "disappeared".

After being identified as false advertising by the Industrial and Commercial Bureau, questioned by the Consumer Association, and criticized and ordered to rectify by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the three major operators have now stopped talking about "unlimited packages" and have replaced them with "Enjoyable packages" and so on.

However, a search on some operators' official websites and Internet phone card official websites revealed that some pages still contain the word "unlimited" promotional materials.

In addition, there are some other words such as "use at will", "use with confidence", "use openly", and "use boldly" as substitutes.

Does the removal of the "unlimited" promotional content mean that the original unlimited package cannot be used, or that there will be no "unlimited" package in the future?

This is not the case. The "unlimited" packages that users originally applied for can still be used, and future packages with the same resources will only have a different name.

This means that similar packages in the future will still have the "data limit and speed limit" restriction.

How did the unlimited data plan become a "big scam"?

Why is the unlimited data package a scam? Let's take a look at the recent case of "6 hours of Internet access and owing 18,000 yuan" in Changsha↓↓↓

The so-called unlimited data packages are actually packages with unlimited speed. For example, a certain unlimited data package is actually capped at 40GB of domestic data for the whole month. After exceeding the cap, the speed is limited to 1Mbps. After the total data reaches 100GB, the speed is limited to 128Kbps. It's just that the words "unlimited data" are very eye-catching on the operator's promotional billboards, while the speed limit rules after the cap are annotated in inconspicuous small fonts.

The network speed of 128Kbps is equivalent to that of the 2G era. Various apps and video websites that were born in the 4G era in recent years basically cannot be used normally at the 2G network speed. Even if such traffic is limited, it is a drop in the bucket and is better than nothing.

Although the unlimited data packages seem to be unlimited, they are actually limited. Such advertising itself is suspected of violating the Advertising Law, and many local regulatory authorities have punished such false advertising. Such advertising has triggered a series of statements from the Shenzhen Consumer Council, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has even required the three major operators to regulate their advertising and make the restrictive terms prominently marked.

Be wary of other "unlimited routines"

At the end of last month, the Beijing Municipal Communications Administration issued the "Second Quarter Telecom Service Quality Notice". Its content shows that in the second quarter, the bureau received 521 service quality hot issues, and the disputes over unlimited packages being restricted in speed are on the rise. In response, the bureau has standardized the telecommunications tariff marketing behavior of various basic operators, and Beijing Unicom, Beijing Telecom, and Beijing Mobile have carried out self-inspection and self-correction.

Relevant industry insiders said, "In fact, this type of package should be renamed. Otherwise, it is called an unlimited package when the speed and quantity are limited, which is indeed a case of 'selling dog meat under the guise of sheep meat'."

A public interest lawyer who has been paying close attention to the telecommunications industry said that businesses should not only clearly state the rules in advance, but more importantly, they should not mislead consumers by using ambiguous terms. The word "unlimited" may trigger impulse buying, thus causing losses to consumers. "Including unlimited packages, all the obviously exaggerated packages of operators should be 'squeezed out' as soon as possible."

Consumers should be more vigilant

After the unlimited package name is deprecated,
