Nokia deploys 5G SA private network for crane manufacturer Konecranes

In a statement, Nokia said Edzcom will deploy a dedicated radio and application platform based on its Digital Automation Cloud, which is designed to provide high-bandwidth, low-latency private networks and local edge computing.

Stephan Litjens, vice president of enterprise solutions at Nokia's Cloud and Network Services business group, said Konecranes has been at the "forefront" of private wireless, having introduced an LTE-based architecture four years ago to develop solutions for parts of its business. "Now, by deploying 5G to explore and develop its potential in factories and ports, Konecranes is underscoring its leadership in using digitalization to improve productivity and safety," he said.

After winning this major customer, the number of corporate customers using Nokia to deploy private networks exceeded 260, of which more than 40 integrated 5G technology.

Konecranes is a world-leading crane manufacturer and crane maintenance service provider. Headquartered in Hvenka, Finland, it has been a century-long company since its establishment in 1910. By the end of 2012, Konecranes had operations in 50 countries around the world, with 609 service outlets and more than 12,100 employees worldwide.
