Why is there no movement in China for the popular wireless mesh network?

The wireless mesh network that emerged in the second half of 2016 can be said to have set off a whirlwind of wireless router revolution. At the CES exhibition in January this year, giants such as ASUS and Linksys launched wireless mesh network products. Except for some small startups, Google, Netgear, ASUS, UBNT, LInksys, etc. have all entered the field of mesh networks, which is very surprising. However, the wireless mesh network technology that is extremely popular abroad has few manufacturers in China.

What is a wireless mesh network? The traditional method to solve the problem of wireless signal coverage is to relay the wireless signal or deploy a powerline modem. However, wireless relay can only relay down one level at a time, and the wireless transmission rate after relaying will be halved. Moreover, if the router is in the living room, I want the bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom to have signals, but I can't relay it. Another solution, the powerline modem, solves the problem of wireless coverage in each room, but once high-power appliances such as microwave ovens, ovens, refrigerators, etc. are running in the home, the transmission rate of the powerline modem will be greatly reduced.

In the face of these problems, wireless mesh network design emerged, and both new and established network equipment manufacturers have launched new wireless routers that use wireless mesh network technology. As the name suggests, wireless mesh network allows each wireless router to relay wireless signals to each other. For example, traditional wireless relay technology can only relay from A to B, and then from B to C, and C and A cannot communicate. However, wireless mesh network allows the three devices ABC to communicate, forming a network that is interconnected like a "bee hive".

With such a good technology, why haven't domestic manufacturers launched products? It is mainly due to the domestic usage environment. At present, the lower-class people account for the vast majority of the user base, and everyone's living environment is small, so there is no need to use wireless mesh network equipment. Unlike the European and American markets, the middle class has a large house, and they can accept the high price of mesh network equipment. Under such conditions, many mesh network products have naturally emerged, and our manufacturers focus on cheap products of 100 yuan or less, and are moving towards the vast township and rural markets with small profits and quick turnover under the "Broadband China" strategy.
