Analysis of the operating data of the three major operators in October: the growth momentum of 5G package users remains rapid

Recently, the operating data of the three major operators in October were all released.

In terms of mobile business, China Telecom continued its strong growth momentum in the previous months, and the number of new users in October still ranked first. In the 4G business, China Mobile took the lead, successfully surpassing China Unicom in the number of new 4G users in October, ranking first in the number of new users that month. There is no suspense in the broadband business, China Mobile's number of new users is more than the sum of China Unicom and China Telecom. In terms of 5G business, China Mobile and China Telecom are moving forward in parallel. It is worth noting that China Unicom has not yet announced the number of 5G users.

The number of new mobile users has declined, and 5G services are worth watching

Data shows that in October, China Mobile's mobile customer base increased by 163,000, totaling 946.344 million. China Mobile's 5G (package) customer base increased by 15.201 million, totaling 128.793 million; China Mobile's 4G customer base increased by 4.269 million, totaling 773.784 million; and wired broadband users increased by 2.895 million, totaling 207.108 million.

In October, China Telecom's mobile user base increased by 810,000, with a total of 350.16 million mobile users. In terms of wired broadband business, China Telecom's wired broadband user base increased by 1.02 million, with a total of 157.77 million wired broadband users. The number of 5G package users increased by 7.06 million, with a total of 71.86 million 5G package users.

In terms of mobile business, China Unicom's mobile billing users decreased by 148,000 in October, reaching a total of 309 million, and the total number of mobile billing users decreased by 9.441 million this year. Among them, the net increase of 4G users in the month was 2.128 million, reaching a total of 269 million, and the total number of 4G users increased by 14.811 million this year. In terms of fixed-line business, China Unicom's fixed-line broadband users increased by 523,000 in October, reaching a total of 87.081 million, and the total number of fixed-line broadband users increased by 3.603 million this year.

From the data, compared with September, the number of mobile users of the three operators in October has declined significantly, especially China Unicom, where the number of new users has once again turned negative. China Telecom's new users have almost been "halved" compared with September, but it should be noted that China Telecom's new mobile users are still the first among the three, against the background of the continuous loss of mobile users of the other two operators for several months. In terms of 4G users, China Telecom no longer discloses 4G user data. China Mobile's new users are twice that of September, while China Unicom has a slight decline. There is no suspense in broadband users, China Mobile ranks first in net user growth.

In terms of the most interesting 5G additions, China Mobile and China Telecom continued the momentum of new additions in the previous months, with net increases of 15.201 million and 7.06 million users respectively. According to this trend, China Mobile's 5G package users are expected to exceed 130 million next month.

Operators "harvest" 5G users

Autumn is the season of harvest. After the rapid construction of 5G networks in the first half of the year, operators ushered in the 5G harvest period in the second half of the year.

China Mobile, which has the largest number of 5G users, has built the world's largest 5G network, covering 340 cities across the country. By the end of this year, China Mobile will exceed its 300,000-station 5G construction plan and build more than 350,000 5G base stations.

At the same time, China Mobile has introduced 5G independent networking, and a large number of base stations are gradually and orderly switching to SA mode, providing new architecture design, new technology foundation and new service capabilities. By the end of this year, China Mobile will fully build the world's largest independent 5G network.

Terminals are an excellent way to increase the number of 5G users. China Mobile said that its 5G terminal sales volume was 50 million units last year, and it has exceeded 85 million units this year. It is certain that it will exceed 100 million units by the end of the year. China Mobile's 5G Terminal Pioneer Industry Alliance has launched more than 20 5G chips so far, with five major brands covering all price segments from high to low; it has promoted and supported multi-mode, multi-screen and multi-form, and launched 139 5G mobile phones, and the price of 5G mobile phones has exceeded the threshold of 1,000 yuan; it has launched more than 200 5G industry terminals, covering 15 key sub-industries such as smart factories, smart campuses, and smart hospitals, and is promoting the implementation of nearly 100 industry applications.

As for China Telecom, its goal is to achieve a net increase of 80 million 5G package users in 2020. China Telecom's rapid 5G development momentum is inseparable from its increased innovation efforts, accelerated 5G scale commercialization, and expanded comprehensive information services. With the help of multiple measures, China Telecom's 5G users continue to grow and achieve strong development. So far, China Telecom has opened more than 320,000 5G sites, covering more than 300 cities, and has built the world's largest co-built and shared 5G network.

Since China Unicom has not released its 5G data, it will not be analyzed here. Data shows that as of the end of October, China Unicom has opened a total of 330,000 5G base stations. By the end of this year, the scale of China Unicom's 5G base stations is expected to exceed 380,000, covering all prefecture-level cities in the country. 5G co-construction and sharing has doubled coverage, doubled speed, and doubled experience. The average download speed has reached 900Mbps, and the peak download speed in some 200MHz bandwidth hotspots has reached 1.7Gbps. In terms of network construction scale and quality, China Unicom's 5G user number is unlikely to disappoint the outside world.
