Huawei releases "Premium Private Line 2.0 & Intelligent Distributed Access" solution

[Beijing, China, October 15] In September this year, Huawei announced its "Intelligent Connectivity Strategy" at the All Connect Conference. On October 13, Huawei implemented the strategy at the "Global Ultra-Broadband Forum" (UBBF2020) - launching intelligent distributed access solutions for home scenarios and premium private line 2.0 solutions for enterprise scenarios.

On October 15, Huawei held a press conference at the National Convention Center, giving a detailed interpretation of two "intelligent connection solutions" for enterprises and homes.

Every upgrade in the way of connection will bring a qualitative leap in the development of human society. In the era of intelligence, the connection industry is experiencing five major changes. New technologies such as cloud and AI are accelerating their integration with connections, and individuals, families and enterprises are also putting forward higher requirements for connections.

In the past, when people and families were the main targets, "connecting" was the main goal; with the increase in the demand for full-scenario smart life and enterprise intelligence, connections need to be smarter. The technical goal of this stage has changed from "interconnecting everything" to "intelligently connecting everything". According to third-party forecasts, by 2035, the number of global connections will reach one trillion, and "ubiquitous connectivity and intelligence" will become a reality, which will bring about huge changes in family businesses, business models, social economy, etc.

However, "intelligent connection" also requires various network infrastructure and technical solutions to be upgraded in order to gradually achieve the expected conditions. First, bandwidth capacity is the basis of connection. In order to meet the needs of ultra-high-definition video, VR/AR applications, AI cameras, drones, etc. in home and enterprise scenarios, ubiquitous and seamless gigabit connections are required; secondly, in order to meet business needs such as office and learning in home scenarios and the needs of safe and reliable production in enterprise scenarios, the connection network must be able to achieve a deterministic experience; thirdly, the scale and complexity of the network have increased exponentially, and big data and AI must be introduced to achieve hyper-automation.

The "Intelligent Distributed Access Network" and "Premium Private Line 2.0" released by Huawei this time are solutions for homes and enterprises that meet the requirements of "intelligent connectivity".

l Premium Private Line 2.0: This solution uses OVPN optical slicing technology to provide multi-dimensional resource hard isolation such as wavelength, sub-wavelength, and OSU, realizing the transition from selling private lines to selling private networks, and flexibly matching the demands of various industries. The flexible hard pipeline based on Liquid OTN technology can achieve 2M~100G flexible bandwidth access and lossless adjustment of services. Through the integrated management and control of cloud and optical networks, it provides enterprises with one-stop cloud network services, realizes automatic connection between the network and multiple clouds, and truly realizes that entering the network is entering the cloud. Through the E2E all-optical network, it effectively reduces latency and supports operators to build an all-optical city with a latency of 1ms, bringing the ultimate experience to enterprise users. Through the automation of the entire BSS/OSS process, it creates an e-commerce experience and greatly improves operational efficiency.

Zhang Haiyi, from the Institute of Technology and Standards at the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, said: "In the face of new challenges, operators must first deepen their network advantages and optimize network architecture so that network resources can be used according to user needs to create a high-quality private line deployment structure with one network for each industry or even one network for each scenario."

Wang Chuanbao, deputy general manager of Beijing Unicom, said: "In the past two years, Beijing Unicom Smart Link has provided differentiated value-added experience of ultra-low latency and self-service for the majority of government and enterprise private line users. Looking forward to the future, Smart Link 2.0, which integrates cloud and network and is powered by AI, will better serve the new infrastructure and help the Smart Winter Olympics."

Lu Yiquan, President of Huawei's Transmission Product Line, who is responsible for "Premium Private Line 2.0", said: "The Premium Private Line 2.0 solution proposed by Huawei today will break through business boundaries with the capabilities of private network + cloud network to achieve the ultimate experience in the cloud; break through user boundaries by creating ubiquitous quality connections with Liquid OTN; break through experience boundaries by connecting BSS/OSS full process automation with NCE; break through business boundaries with differentiated value-added services such as availability maps, latency maps, and CPE plug-and-play; experience is the best perception standard for enterprise users. The purpose of Huawei's Premium Private Line 2.0 is to provide high-quality private line, private network, and cloud connection services to thousands of industries, helping operators win the government and enterprise market with experience, thereby achieving greater business success."

l Intelligent distributed access network: This solution has comprehensively upgraded home terminals, central offices and network management to achieve gigabit whole-home Wi-Fi coverage, high-quality service experience and accurate identification of poor-quality users, helping operators move from demographic dividend to experience dividend.

Zhao Weifen, deputy general manager of the network department of China Mobile Zhejiang Company, said: "Under the new situation, the competition in broadband is no longer a competition of factors, but a competition of operational capabilities. Broadband operations have entered the era of experience operations, and the core capability is the perceptibility, measurability and monetization of user experience. Experience management and operation capabilities based on artificial intelligence and big data algorithms can help operators stimulate new momentum and achieve high-quality development."

Zhou Guoqiang, deputy general manager of the network development department of China Telecom Guangdong Company, said: "Guangdong Telecom will adhere to the "Smart Enjoyment of Three Gigabits" strategy and build gigabit broadband and gigabit Wi-Fi through a three-pronged approach of network upgrade, content enrichment and service upgrade. FTTR all-optical networking can achieve true gigabit to every room, lossless bandwidth, and automatic roaming switching on a unified Wi-Fi network, making the gigabit experience ubiquitous, creating a true gigabit high-quality experience for the family, and realizing a new quality family life."

Zhou Jun, President of Huawei's Access Network Product Line, who is responsible for "Intelligent Distributed Access Network", said: "The new generation of network architecture needs to have business-network collaboration in the cloud, computing-network collaboration at the edge, and device-network collaboration at the terminal, while creating a new access network with second-level perception, edge AI computing power, and elastic connectivity. Huawei's Intelligent Distributed Access Network solution creates a true gigabit high-quality life experience. Intelligent true gigabit, intelligent precise operation, and intelligent elastic planning, the three major intelligences will help operators build a true gigabit high-quality broadband network for the next decade, achieve a comprehensive upgrade and transformation from bandwidth management to experience management, and achieve greater business success."

Jin Yuzhi, President of Huawei's Transmission and Access Product Line, and Duan Ke, Vice President of Huawei's China Carrier Business Unit, attended the meeting.
