Welcome to the Huawei Developer Conference 2020 (Cloud). As a developer, I graduated from Shanghai Jiao Tong University with a major in computer science in 1992. I participated in the development of China's first generation of digital program-controlled switches. At Huawei, I was responsible for the research and development of China's first generation of digital communication systems (GSM). Over more than ten years, I have written hundreds of thousands of lines of code. I remember that the best computer in the school laboratory had a computing power of less than 100 million times per second, but today, the small mobile phones in everyone's hands can achieve more than 400 times this number. If the NPU parallel computing part is added, the difference will be tens of thousands of times, which shows how fast the computing power changes. Today's developers are very happy. They can use the computing power in their hands to change the world and our lives with lines of code. Developers are the force that changes the world There is a classic line in superhero movies: With great power comes great responsibility. For us IT people, this line should be: With great computing power comes great responsibility. In the digital age, developers are the force that changes the world. They are also the driving force behind corporate innovation and the soul of the industry. We pay tribute to all developers. Computing power has become a new productivity and the driving force of the digital world As we all know, "new infrastructure" has become a hot topic recently. We can see that its "new" lies in the transition of infrastructure construction from the physical world to the digital world. In the digital world, developers are the core, and computing, cloud, artificial intelligence and other capabilities are tools in the hands of developers, and the basis of these tools is computing power. Computing power has become a new kind of productivity. We recently released a report on Ubiquitous Computing Power. From the report, we can see that per capita computing power is strongly correlated with a country's per capita GDP, and has become an important indicator for measuring the economic development of a country or region. More importantly, computing power investment will bring huge multiplier effects. For example, in the manufacturing industry, $1 of computing power investment can bring $10 of final output, which will promote economic development. We believe that electricity is the driving force of the physical world, and computing power is the driving force of the digital world. The world calls for diverse computing power We have entered the digital age. Moore's Law for single chips has slowed down. Traditional computing can no longer meet new demands. Computing has entered the golden age of architectural innovation. The world is calling for diverse computing power, which has the following characteristics: Heterogeneous computing: From general-purpose CPUs to parallel and distributed computing with Arm, NPUs , and GPUs. l Collaborative computing: 5G enables data to be more distributed at the edge and end, and computing power follows the data to achieve cloud-edge-end collaboration. l "Brute force" computing: AI computing power is growing rapidly. It is estimated that by 2025 AI will account for more than 80% of the computing power in data centers. l Ubiquitous computing: Computing power will be everywhere, covering "edge, end, cloud" and embedded systems. At the All Connected Conference last September, Huawei officially released its computing strategy based on the "Kunpeng + Ascend" dual engine to provide the world with the strongest computing power. Kunpeng is a general-purpose computing processor, and Ascend is an AI processor. Today we will focus on Kunpeng, and tomorrow we will expand on Ascend. The computing industry ecosystem has made significant progress Our computing industry development strategy is "open hardware, open source software, and enabling partners". Now I would like to share with you our progress. l Hardware openness: Huawei focuses on making chips, boards, and motherboards, enabling partners to prioritize the development of their own branded complete machines. Currently, 11 complete machine partners around the world have launched server and PC products based on Kunpeng motherboards, such as Huanghe, Changhong Tiangong, Ziguang Hengyue, Tongfang, Xiangjiang, etc., and have been launched in batches. l Software open source: The openEuler open source community was officially launched in December last year, and the Long term support (LTS) version was officially released today. All partners and developers can use it for free. At the same time, the operating systems used in Huawei's own products are all obtained from the open source community. We will give priority to supporting partners to release commercial versions based on openEuler. Today, we are very pleased to invite four partners, including Kylin Software, Puhua Basic Software, Tongxin Software and the Institute of Software of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, to share their experiences and achievements in cooperation. We hope to enable 90% of applications to run on Kunpeng in three years. Huawei launches strategic cooperation and joint innovation laboratory with Tencent Games The 5G era has arrived, and it will quickly drive the cloudification of mobile applications, such as cloud phones and cloud games. Cloud phones allow every application and every function of the mobile phone to run on the cloud, using the computing power of the cloud to enjoy a better experience. The trend of games is to move to the cloud. Users can use ordinary terminals to enjoy the better experience and picture quality brought by the powerful computing power of the cloud. Terminals are all based on ARM. Using Kunpeng in the cloud does not require instruction set conversion. The same structure of the terminal and cloud can bring a 40% performance improvement. Kunpeng's innovation is a very important opportunity for the game industry. Today I am honored to announce that the strategic cooperation and joint innovation laboratory between Huawei and Tencent Games has officially started. Developer friends are no strangers to them, and today I will introduce to you the new members of these three families. l 1 cloud development platform: Huawei Cloud DevCloud provides developers with full-process software development tools, opens up Huawei's 30 years of software development experience to developers, and provides visual, customizable automatic delivery pipelines to make software development simple and efficient. More than 400,000 users have developed more than 500,000 projects on DevCloud. Today I bring you CloudIDE, a new member of DevCloud. It is lightweight, supports Kunpeng native, supports multiple languages, and connects the development state and the running state. I am very happy to announce that CloudIDE will be free for all Kunpeng instances throughout the year in 2020! 1 set of development tools: Last year at the Huawei Connect Conference, we also released the Kunpeng development kit, including compilers, analysis and scanning tools, code migration tools, and performance tuning tools. Today, our development kit also welcomed a new member: the Kunpeng acceleration library. It includes five categories: basic library, compression library, encryption and decryption, storage, and multimedia. With less than 1% code modification, it can achieve a performance improvement of more than 10%, and in some scenarios, such as encryption and decryption, it can reach more than 100%.
