The 4th Data Center Infrastructure Summit was successfully held in Xi'an. At the meeting, Zhang Song, Vice Chairman of TGG (China), and Wang Yue, Senior Business Manager of Cloud Computing Institute of China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Leader of TGG (China) Testing Working Group, awarded Huawei the world's first micro-module product PUE test certificate. The issuance of this certificate not only marks the official implementation of the PUE test standard for micro-module data centers, but also means that the PUE test of data centers has taken an important step towards standardization and normalization.
Zhang Song, Vice Chairman of TGG (China) (left), Lv Yixing, General Manager of Huawei's Modular Data Center Field (center), and Wang Yue, Senior Business Manager of the Cloud Computing Institute of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Head of the TGG (China) Testing Working Group (right) TGG is a global non-profit organization and a leader in improving resource utilization in the global data center industry. It is committed to developing universal energy consumption technical standards, measurement methods, processing procedures and new technologies, and strives to improve energy efficiency in data center management. Its greatest contribution is the definition of PUE, which has become a globally recognized indicator for evaluating data center energy efficiency. The test was completed by the Data Center Research Department of the Cloud Computing Institute of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. The test object was Huawei's micro-module product FusionModule2000, which is a micro-module data center product launched by Huawei for small and medium-sized data centers. The specific configuration is: air-cooled micro-module, 12 IT cabinets, 5kW power per cabinet, uninterruptible power supply and battery cabinet, uninterruptible power supply redundancy configuration N+1, air conditioning redundancy configuration N+1. In addition to excellent product performance, FusionModule2000 combines Huawei's technical accumulation in the field of AI and integrates AI technology into the core of micro-module products, which greatly reduces system energy consumption while ensuring the reliability of the data center. To ensure the accuracy, fairness and comparability of the PUE test results, the PUE test of micromodule products needs to be conducted in a test laboratory environment approved by TGG (China). Previously, Huawei Xi'an Research Institute No. 2 Laboratory has been approved by TGG (China). During the three-day test, the testers conducted tests in accordance with the "Micromodule Product PUE Test Specification" (TGGCTS001-2018), simulated five different environmental conditions of micromodules in the temperature range of -5°C to 35°C in the laboratory, and tested the PUE values of four different load rates under each condition. After twenty rigorous tests, it was finally concluded that the annual PUE value of Huawei FusionModule2000 micromodule was as low as 1.245, reaching the energy-saving product standard approved by TGG (China), and was lower than the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's green data center PUE requirements (<1.4). The annual PUE value is based on the ambient temperature in Beijing and is obtained by weighted average using the temperature normalization method. Why does Huawei dare to be the "first person to try"? Huawei is committed to providing users with green, efficient and reliable data center energy solutions and guiding the healthy development of the industry. Previously, Huawei participated in the preparation of the test specifications throughout the process, providing strong support for the implementation of the standards; at the same time, the experimental environment of Huawei Xi'an Research Institute passed the certification on November 11, 2018 in accordance with the "Micro-module Product PUE Test Specification" (TGGCTS001-2018) and the "Energy Efficiency Test Laboratory Environment Certification Process-Micro-module Product PUE Test" requirements, becoming the world's first micro-module product PUE test environment certified by TGG (China). The issuance of the micro-module product PUE certificate further standardizes the certification of micro-module product PUE and provides reference and demonstration for the certification of micro-module product PUE in the industry. In the future, Huawei will continue to innovate and work with partners and industry associations to promote the healthy development of the industry. |
